Earlier this week we welcomed our environmental sub-consultants back to site to continue with the wetlands biodiversity study. The local team in Yaounde, Rainbow, are providing experts in the aquatic ecology fields including river systems, fish and algae, and wetland flora and fauna.

It’s been our goal from the start to use as much local knowledge and capability as possible, so it is wonderful to have this local team of experts join our Cameroonian led technical services team on site.

Over the coming weeks we will have South African consultants from Golders head to site with biodiversity specialities that are not available in Cameroon yet, but the integration will support local up-skilling.

During the past two weeks, Asmaou, our GIS and Database specialist, has stepped up to lead the team during our Senior Geologist’s rotational leave (during which he got married – congratulations!).

Asmaou has been a critical part of the team since the beginning and she brings incredibly valuable technical skills and a great attention to detail, so she’s perfect in stepping up to lead the team during Jones’ absence. Meanwhile, we welcome Dr Ashok as a consultant to the team.

Dr Ashok is an expert in Alumina refining, has a Ph.D. in Geology and Mineralogy of Bauxite from Moscow, with over 40 years of experience in Bauxite-Alumina industry as Geologist and Geo-metallurgist. He’s supporting us in the mine planning and metallurgy to ensure we schedule the mine to present bauxite in the most favourable way for efficient refinery operations.
